Teahouse Films and the past members of the Social Justice Documentary Class at Villanova have been fortunate enough to receive generous donations from The Waterhouse Family Institute for the Study of Communication and Society (WFI).
WFI is housed within Villanova University’s Department of Communication in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The organization was founded on the principle that the study and practice of communication requires attention to values, ethics and social justice. Properly understood, communication is central to the creation of positive social change.
One of the ways that WFI enacts this mission is through funding a collection of student-run and -centered activities, including the social justice documentary program. The films that WFI has made possible offer amazing explorations of the possibility of filmmaking to improve specific communities and our shared social world.
